Warning: very long blog. I expect you Despair people to read all of it. It might blow to have to read it all, so suck it up.

I think I’m just a bit too idealistic sometimes.

I was looking at wedding dresses because there was a special guide on MSN. I know that I’m going to get married one day, but I’m only going to get married once and never divorce, so whoever is going to be my husband will probably date me for years and years. Anyway, back to the dresses, I’m going to wear white. I know white is supposedly saved for virgins, but fuck that. So it’s going to be white, it’s going to be strapless and have a somewhat bareback. My bridesmaids will all wear a different dress, but the same color, assuming that I can find such a thing. The color isn’t decided yet, but of course something pastel. It’s going to be outside in a rose garden or something. For the ceremony, I’m going to invite the close family and friends; everybody else can show up to the reception. Depending on my budget, I may or may not have a translator at the ceremony (for my parents). It’s going to be in the Spring/Summer. Hopefully, I’ll still have my long hair by then and it’ll be nice and wonderful.

Oh, one more thing, I’m also going to have a somewhat traditional Vietnamese ceremony. That consists of the groom’s family coming to the bride’s family’s house and I think it’s either asking for my family’s blessing or to take me away from my family. I don’t know how to do that part just yet. But the groom’s family has to bring the traditional gifts of fruit, food, a pig, liquor, and whatever else is there. We’ll wear the traditional ao dai and pray to my ancestors. Oh, and as for gifts, I’m just going to say money. I don’t need someone to give me a cheap toaster. I don’t care too much for the amount; if you can give a certain amount, then do so, if you can’t, then that’s fine.

Anyway, that’s a lot of wedding talk and I have years to go before I even need to think about that. Right now, I need to focus on my studies and getting my social life back together. I plan to join a sorority (not a sleazy one), join my culture club, and party a bit once I’m back at school… in addition to all my classes. :cute: The one thing I’m not looking for is a relationship. After this whole ordeal, I’m not going to be ready to open up for a while, nor am I going to fall quickly either.

I wonder how nice people think I am sometimes. I try to be, but recently, a friend told me that I have to stop being so nice, to stop feeling as if I need to please people. That doesn’t mean to stop being civil, but to stop being nice when I don’t need to be. I can be mean and I can be evil, but how many people actually know that? A lot of the times I laugh at others’ misery… oh, and at stupid people.

Anyway, enough about my personality. Life update time: I’m meeting new people and all are really great. Oh, I also started doing my Christmas shopping. I currently have ten people on my list, six I’ve already purchased gifts for (none of which are gift cards thankfully), two that are taken care of, and the other two I don’t quite know what to get just yet. Rawr. My poor bank account. Oh well, that’s what my job is for! Lol.

Lately, I’ve been feeling more confident with myself and it’s mostly due to the people I’ve met and the ones I’ve talked to. In my MySpace, my comment box says, “I think Maria is a goddess.” A friend told me that in order to be a goddess, I have to acknowledge the fact that I’m pretty much better than everyone else. There can be “sub-goddesses,” but I’m supreme. That comment made me feel pretty special, so yes, I am a goddess.

So this is long enough and can you believe there’s more?! Actually, there isn’t. I decided to catch up on a few movies and the reviews are underneath. Enjoy!

  1. Don’t Move (Non ti muovere)Rating (Language: Italian) - Starring Sergio Castellito, Penelope Cruz, and Claudia Gerini. A surgeon’s daughter gets into a serious accident. As he waits in the hospital for news of her condition from the surgery, he flashes back to the time when he had a love affair with Italia (Cruz). It’s hard to explain exactly what happens without giving too much detail, but I enjoyed watching their relationship grow. It’s all a mystery; all the flashbacks, all the reasons… they don’t make sense right away, but you’ll find out more towards the end.
  2. Dot the IRating - Starring Gael García Bernal, Natalia Verbeke, James D’Arcy. Wow. Wow. and Wow. My head spins from trying to remember the whole movie! There are so many twists in this that you never know what’s going to happen next. Just when you think one thing, something else happens. Well, here’s the starting storyline: a couple (Verbeke and D’Arcy)is engaged and as a “French” tradition, the bride-to-be kisses one strange man as her last thing while she’s single. She chooses Kit (Bernal) and from there, their story full of lies and deceit truly begin. Definitely recommended.
  3. ClickRating - Starring Adam Sandler and Kate Beckingsale. Michael Newman (Sandler) seems to be working too hard at his job and doesn’t spend enough time with his family. On his trip to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, he comes across a universal remote, a truly universal remote that controls every instance of his life. Seeing this new toy as an advantage, Newman uses it to help make his life easier. Little does he know that the remote has a mind of its own and soon he finds himself in spots he’d rather not be. This movie isn’t as comedic as Sandler’s past movies, but it still provides a lot to think about when it comes to our decisions, wants, and needs.
  4. Imagine Me and YouRating - Starring Piper Perabo and Lena Headey. Rachel (Perabo) finally gets married to her best friend and boyfriend of many years. However, she happens to run into their florist (Headey) and from there, their relationship grows. I can’t quite tell you want happens really, but it’s a love story between Rachel and one other person; it could be with her husband or with Luce. I suggest that you watch to find out! (It’s a cute chick flick if you’re wondering ^_^)
  5. Three TimesRating - Starring Qi Shu and Chen Chang. This movie contains three different love stories, in three different time periods: 1911, 1966, and 2005. Each story contains the same actors, so you’re not too confused with what’s happening. However, if you are not a patient person at all, then I suggest you don’t watch this movie. It relies more on the cinematic effect than the actual plot, if you can even say that there is one. When I say that not much happens in each period, then I’m not kidding. There’s no cliffhanger, no scary drama, nothing of the sort. Just a chain of events without a proper beginning or ending to some of them.
  6. Lucky Number SlevinRating - Starring Josh Hartnett and Bruce Willis. I love watching movies with lies and deceit, especially ones that make you think one way when it’s actually something completely different. It starts off with Slevin (Hartnett) who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, mistaken for the wrong person. He then finds himself stuck between two bosses, each wanting him to do what he thinks he cannot.

Yech. Most of those dresses are just icky. It’s got nothing on mine lmao. But your wedding plans are so cute. I like. You’re so much like me, keep it small and intimate for the ceremony and then invite everyone who *has* to be there for the party heh. You’re very nice and you’re a good friend. You try to help people with a kind word.

Aww.. what a nice ideal wedding dream, heh. I don’t really want to think about that now though. Wow, you’re doing your christmas shopping already. I’m one of those people who do it at the last minute -.- Good luck with everything else! =)

Ah~ I plan to never get married. It seems like alot of work, that I don’t really want to go through. White is meant for virgins? I didn’t know that… I thought it was meant for women who had never been married before. *Shrugs* Shows how much I know about marriage…

I love looking at wedding dresses! Some of them are just simply gorgeous. I like bold colors (for brides maid dresses) like red, or perhaps purple (though not as bold).

I really like your reviews. I heard both good and bad reviews about Click. However, I love Adam Sandler and the commercials were quite entertaining. I might have to watch it now.
