Day of Silence

In less than one hour begins the National Day of Silence. Sure, I have the option of choosing when to talk and when not to talk, but I wanna stick it out for the full 24 hours. So unless I really need to talk, I’m not here. No talking, no phones, no IMs, no emails. :secret:

“Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence?

(taken from Wikipedia) Sorry to all of you folks who are expecting something out of me. You’re not going to get it.

This day reminds me of what my high school did two years ago. It’s a program called “Every 15 Minutes” and at every 15 minutes, they would announce that so-so died from an alcohol related accident. Around 10am or so, everybody would gather to the field to see that accident, etc. After that, those who had “died” still had to continue going to classes, but they weren’t allowed to speak with anyone.

As for anything new, I’ve got a hostee! Her name is Kate and you can find her link in the sidebar, but her site isn’t up yet, so I wouldn’t bother clicking just yet.

Anyways, have a good week and I’ll post again later!
