So I found out on Monday that a friend I used to hang out with passed away. It saddens me to see such a young person, a person with so much potential, die. He never got the chance to live out his life, but I’m glad that he was able to love before he died. He was definitely a really cool person and I always found my time with him enjoyable. He will surely be missed.
Now I’m back in my hometown. There’s not too much to do I suppose. I’m just watching a bunch of movies & whatnot. I’m trying to find people to spend time with, so yeah. School doesn’t start for another month and a half for me, so I’m hoping to find a job too.
Oh yeah, I got an A on my summer course!
Now I can come back to my university as early as Spring! Yay!
Mixed feelings in this blog.
Movie reviews below:
Okay, let’s see how well my memory serves me in the movie reviews (all available on DVD):
Rating system:
- sucked —
awesome… see it or die.
- Ping Pong
- Japanese movie about table tennis. It’s an okay movie, but honestly, there’s not too much to the plot. Two boys play table tennis and meet challenging opponents. Done. - A Day Without a Mexican
- This is crap. Sure, the title sounds promising, but it was very bland and dull. Again, plotless. The Mexicans disappear, chaos, then reappear. Done. - V for Vendetta
- starring Natalie Portman & Hugo Weaving. It’s a great stab at politics and the corruption that can happen. Whether or not it refers to current politics is beyond me, but that doesn’t matter. Natalie does a great job again and I really do like Hugo’s character, V. - La Mujer de Mi Hermano
- It’s not too complicated a plot, but it is very well directed. A lot of passion running through the movie, so little ones, watch out. It’s pretty much another story about infidelity, but it ends untraditionally. Watch if you have time. - Bad Education (Mala Educación)
- starring Gael Bernal García. I must say I love the movies that Gael works in. The plot is very intricate and I’m a fan of movies that kind of make sense here and there, but comes together in or near the end. It’s so different that I’m not quite sure how to summarize without giving anything away. So go watch.
- City of God
- It’s a tale of Brazilian gangsters. It’s pretty violent here and there, but it’s not bad. It’s a good glimpse of what it must be like to live in the ghetto of the Rio. I’m also a fan of movies that give you a look into the future then go to the past to explain it all.
- Chasing Papí
- I’ll give it credit for its comedic effort. It’s a somewhat funny movie, but not bust-your-butt funny. There’s a guy who can’t help himself and falls in love with three women. They meet and find out he’s cheating and the story pretty much starts from there. The reason why it doesn’t get a good rating, because I thought that he would play a more important role in the movie, but he doesn’t. It’s all about the chicks (who I must say are all attractive). - The Professional
- starring Jean Reno & Natalie Portman. I love the plant.
There’s this plant that Jean’s character protects and I love it. Anyway, it’s about a professional hitman who takes a young girl under his wing when her family is murdered in a bad drug deal. She learns from him and both benefit from each other’s company. Cute. - Serenity
- Okay, I’m not much of a Sci-Fi person in the first place, but if a plot is interesting enough, I’ll stay and watch. Well…. this one sucked. My friends and I didn’t even finish and one even fell asleep! Don’t waste your time on this. - Failure to Launch
- starring Matthew McConaughey & Sarah Jessica Parker. Cute chick flick.
It’s about a guy who lives at home with his parents, so they hire a woman to try to get him to move out. And… uh… that’s pretty much the plot. Haha. It was a cute movie to watch though, so if you’re feeling a bit down in the dumps with love & relationships, this will be a nice movie to watch.

Dang..I’m sorry to hear about your friend. I think he was 19? (or maybe I’m wrong) but either way, that is way too young to die.
Life is quite unfair at times..but I suppose we really can’t do anything about it, unfortunately.
Good job on getting an A though..hahah I don’t even know if I got an A on my chemistry course -_-
1.5 months! Lucky! You should definitely make most of it. Getting a job would be pretty cool..roll in the money!

I’m really sorry to hear your friend passed away. I could never imagine one of my friends dying. It’s so sad when they die young.
I hope you’re feeling okay! School doesn’t start for another month or so for me either. I get so bored sometimes, so I’m looking for a job, too. Good luck finding a job! Congrats on getting a A! Well done!

I just realized I never saw this post. I think you need an updates thing and I’ll join it. How sad about your friend. I’m sorry
Welcome home though, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. I dunno if trying to find a job for just a month is good cause by the time someone finally hires you it will be time to quit, or they just won’t want to hire you for only a month. That’s the problem I had when trying to find short term jobs heh. YAY you got an A that’s awesome. I knew you could do it missy! So back to berzerkely for you!
