:saysigh: I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. I’m so lost right now. I don’t know what I really want. I mean, sure, I want to have fun, spend time with friends and all that other good stuff, but what do I really want to do?

I spent a whole year, a total of 9 classes, and I can’t come up with a good enough reason as to why I chose the major I did. Sure, I think it’s a fun thing to do, to make chips, to solder. Except, do I want it enough? Is it my passion? I thought it was, but how am I sure? I’ve taken two math courses, two computer science courses, two physics (for engineers) courses, one P.E. classs, one comparative literaute course, and one Journalism seminar. Of that entire list, the only ones I enjoyed were P.E. (’cause I like to swim), comparative lit, and the seminar. None of the technical courses appealed to me.

However, were they not appealing because they were difficult? Because it required more of my time than I was willing to give up? The thing is, I don’t really know for sure. There are so many different possibilities as to why this isn’t working for me.

Do I need a break from school? And if so, then will I be motivated to follow through with my major?

I’ve been thinking about changing majors. I’ve always loved helping people and listening to others’ problems to see if I can be of any help. Because of that, I told myself that if engineering didn’t follow through, I’d take up Psychology. But is it the right choice for me?

:saygrr: I wish I knew what I wanted.

Just follow your heart (yes, it’s cliche, but it’s true  ) It took me a long time to figure out my major. Heck, I’m still not sure about bio/chem (pre-pharm). But I know that Pharmacists make good money, and I want to support my future family . Picture yourself 10 year from now, what can you see yourself doing? (For some reason I see you sitting in some cubical, writing stories for the newpapers.) It’ll take time to find out what you really want to do, and we’re both still young. We’ll have the time to change around. Trust me. *hugs*

A friend of mine changed her major into her third year of college, it says that your only 18 so I really do think you\’ve got enough time to just relax and let it come to you. good luck!

I went through the exact same thing you are going through and I understand it’s not easy to make choices because you fear making the wrong one. I’d say don’t give up. As hard as things may seem sometimes, it doesn’t last forever. Also, changing majors might not be a bad thing, but whatever you decide, don’t give up.
