Should I host a site of the month contest? I’ve been thinking about it for awhile and since I like participating in those, why wouldn’t other people, right? Irene has the contest and she chooses who wins. I like that idea because then it takes away the clutter in the sidebar that would be there if I put up a poll. That and if I make it a voting system, it’s always the popular person that wins and I’ve always disliked popularity contests.
What do you think? Is the contest a good thing, bad thing?

I think it’s a good idea, give people a pick-me-up. But also, you might want to put a twist into things and just judge a site of the month randomly w/o submissions, just people you come across? I’ve always thought that would be cool.

I could do that, but that means I’d have to actively search for it and well, sometimes I’m a bit lazy.
I’m thinking now that maybe I could have two; I could have a site of the month that would be chosen by me and then a site of the week chosen by the people?

That sounds good. I wouldn’t say the random one has to be on a schedule, but if you come across a great site then you can give them some special site of the moment award or something?

Site of the moment. I like that. I will definitely do that if I personally stumble across a worthy site.

Definitely. You seem like you’d be a pretty fair judge of sites, so go for it!
Site of the moment sounds much better, because trying to schedule things like that is difficult.

Just an fyi, I sent in forms for SOTW an SOTM but at first the validation code gave me trouble, I did the right code but it came back as an error a few times.
