The Future

To Shelley: My reply is in the comments. I suggest you read it.

Why is it that sometimes, you happen to think about the future more often than you should? Especially with a future that doesn’t play a role yet in your everyday life?

Unfortunately for me, I’ve been a victim of that one too many times. I’ll sit there, I’ll lay there, and I’ll think about all the different scenarios that could happen and how I would deal with such a scenario. Yes, sometimes it’s gotten my hopes and expectations and up and more recently, it’s gotten me to think about what it is I need to know and what it is I want to know.

The future.

It’s so vague. It’s so abstract. It’s so… debatable. Some can say that your future is already mapped out with fate and destiny. Some argue that you choose your fate. And some say whatever happens, happens.

Honestly, I think that if something is meant to happen, it will happen either sooner or later. I’m not saying that fate plays a role, but there is an underlying, a subtle hint that something is inevitable, then who’s to stop the inevitable?

Time can only tell what the future holds for us. There’s no cheating. No peeking. No illusions to foretell the future. You can only live life one day at a time. (But that doesn’t mean you can’t plan ahead!)

OMG I can’t believe you have that article up “Why gay marriage will ruin society.” It makes me so mad. You’re supposed to be 19. I think you need to grow up. The world is changing. And just because gay parents raise a child doesn’t mean they are going to be gay or vice versa. My cousin is gay but his parents were straight. You better delete that stupid article or I’ll keep on writing nasty comments.

Thanks for writing that! I enjoyed it because I didn’t get a job I really wanted because of a friend and I was really mad about it. So maybe it happened for the best.

    Hello Shelley,

    1. You don’t need to write nasty comments.

    2. The article was meant for sarcasm. I don’t understand how you missed the entire satirical tone of the article.

    3. If you read the article as to why I SUPPORT gay marriage here: http://www.boscardin.org/visitors/legalizing-gay-marriages/ you’d understand that I’m not some uber-conservative who can’t handle the idea of homosexuality.

    4. I don’t like the way that you have decided to conduct yourself, resorting to threats because you don’t respect one’s opinion. Let’s say you thought that all dogs should go to hell. Should I yell or threaten you to change your opinion or to take down your content? No. This is my website and I can do as I please. Even if this were a hate website, then you are more than welcome to leave such a website. You don’t have to be nasty because you don’t support another’s opinion.

I think about it all the time as well. I’m ’scared’ of the future. Or rather not knowing what’s to come, because even if you have a slightest idea you never really know what’s going to happen or change in your life as the future comes closer.

I think about it in the same way, though mostly in terms of romance. And it varies whether they’re hopes/thoughts about the near or far future ahead but it gets me sad if it turns out differently (in the opposite way).

For me, I think there’s a pre-determined underlying life path for me to walk with intersections I can choose, no turning back . And for things that will never cross the path ahead of me, they’re just not meant to be. But I won’t be able to avoid certain things that do await ahead of me.

Lol the last line is the most important. Great tip. Plan ahead! :D

I’m a victim of that. i always dream of the future me… of course, when you always dream of that, it’s so surreal. So when you fail in reality, it’s so hard to overcome the feeling.

I feel so powerless when my thoughts turn this way. But they go along in that vein frequently.

You’re right about that, you can’t predict what crazy curveballs your life will throw at you. However, you can control things with decisions you make and at least feel like your future is made by you based on your choices and desires.

Great post. I believe that whatever was meant to happen will no matter what we do. We can’t change it. I am one of those people that think that your future has already been mapped out … yeah we make daily choices but it was already meant to occur. :)

I never really thought too much about the future. I mostly find myself looking back at the past. But I think that if we are determined, we can change our own future. Like…global warming? It’s going to happen but maybe if we all stick together to help save Earth we can prevent it! Its just what I think.

I don’t know, I try not to think about the future too much or else I start getting generally afraid of Stuff. I would really rather just stay a kid, but hey.

Lucky you that you can even do that! I wish I was brave enough to think about the future :( By thinking about the future so much, I’m guessing you’re very optimistic perhaps? But you’re right, sometimes if you want it bad, it could happen. :)

Thinking about the future is inevitable. I do believe that people should think about the future to some degree though. You should know what general direction you want your life to move towards, and everyone should have some sort of long or short term goals for themselves. But it’s not good to dwell on the future too much. But it’s easier said I guess…

Sometimes I just hate even thinking about the future. Because then for me, that usually leads to thinking about death which just baffles my mind to think of not being “here” anymore.

I do believe in Karma, and think to a certain extent things are mapped out for us. But for the most part, our lives are up to us how we live them and what we do with them.

I think we’ve all sat and overly comtemplated our future and/or our place in it. I know that I’ve laid awake at night asking myself lots of “what if” questions. Unfortunately, driving myself crazy with these questions didn’t make me feel any less scared or nervous about the future, it just kept me up late. *lol*

I believe we’ve all sat down and contemplated our future at one point, certainly anyone with half a brain cell has wondered where their life is heading right? Let me have my delusions.

The difference lies in what you take away from it. Did you learn anything, feel better in the least, or determine a target? That’s what is important I think.

As for fate and all that, I think some things become inevitable but that’s because of the choices we made. We make so many choices that along the way a certain outcome is unavoidable because of said choices. Just my two cents.

When I think about the future I feel like I’m in total control and yet in no control at all. It’s confusing really, but anyway.
