So here’s the deal with my parents’ home. They were so lazy and/or not in the mood to upkeep the lawn that they placed square bricks all over the front lawn. That way, they don’t have to cut the grass, water it, etc. We still have a bunch of our flowers along the border, but that’s about it. Now, because my parents are also very frugal, they just hired the neighbors to take care of placing the bricks. Sure, my father has the ability to due it himself, but he’s getting much older now and shouldn’t be doing all that hard labor.

Anyway, in my opinion, they should have had it professionally done, perhaps through TruGreen or through another service. Why do I say that? Well, because it wasn’t professionally taken care of, we often see a bunch of weeds growing through the cracks of the bricks. Yes, they laid plastic in between the dirt and the bricks, but shit still grows, you know?

I almost wish we had a much better looking lawn, but it’s okay; I don’t live there anymore to care enough about it.

Patio Furniture (0)

I wish I could find some really nice patio furniture. Why? Because it would be nice to give to my parents so they could have a place to replace in our spacious backyard. Of course, it makes no sense for me to have it; I live in an apartment building and would obviously have no place to store it. I admit I have a lawn chair, but it folds up so it really doesn’t take up a lot of space in my apartment.

My parents should really think about getting a home security system or something. Okay, true, most of the houses on the street don’t have security systems, but it doesn’t hurt, right? I don’t know if they would go with American Home Shield, but it’s always worth looking into.

I remember at some point during my four-year stay at my parents’ house (I only lived there for my high school years since we moved right after I passed eighth grade), there was a guy running from the cops. I don’t know why he was running, what crime he had committed, or how long he had been on the run, but the next thing I know, my dad’s waking me up from my nap, telling me to lay low. Apparently, this guy who had been running, decided to jump into some house’s backyards and whatnot. Yes, just like what happens in an episode of Cops. Anyway, the way that our backyard is built is that once you hop in, it’s kind of a long way to get all the way back out the other side only to find an even higher fence. You could easily hop into my other neighbor’s yard, but he obviously didn’t think of that.

Anyway, I suppose they caught the bastard and whatnot, but still, in situations like those, it would be good to have some sort of security system in place, right?

Beautiful Homes (0)

I’ve always wanted to take a vacation somewhere beautiful. I would love to stay in a beautiful home, possibly somewhere in the woods or somewhere where there weren’t very many people around and as inconvenient as it may be, but I’d kind of like to be in the middle of nowhere just to enjoy the wonderful life of nature, you know? If not, I can always settle for something like the Branson property or something similar to it. However, step one is getting out of college in order to afford all this, right?

Bed Bugs (0)

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate, hate, hate bugs? I absolutely loathe bugs. (Sorry to those who love bugs!)

They just creep my out so bad that I just get so jittery about it all. My parents’ house was infested with bed bugs almost a year ago and I’m just so incredibly grateful that I was not there when it happened. I had decided to come home for a weekend, the weekend before Memorial Day. My aunt was in the process of selling her house and moving into a smaller place and so we were housing a lot of her things. I suppose what happened was that during the transport, a bug (or two… or several) must have gotten into her queen size mattress. When I came home that weekend, they hadn’t switched the mattresses yet (thank God for that!), so I wasn’t bitten.

However, a week later, when my older sister decided to visit home, they had already switched mattresses and she ended up getting bitten. Then the bugs migrated to the other mattresses so my whole family was suffering many bug bites from these pesky bed bugs. Now, I don’t know if they called Terminix, but I know that they had to evacuate the house in order to get rid of the bugs.

I really hate bugs.
