A New Look

After about six months, Boscardin finally got a new layout. It’s been sitting on my table for months, but I never got around to finishing it. This time, I started and I made sure to make everything work. However, because I am prone to miss things, do let me know if there’s a bug somewhere!

The image was taken by Kari L. The original picture is no longer available online, but he did take another snapshot that is similar to the one I used here. The new image is called “Passion.” He takes a lot of really great photos. It took me a while to find a nice red-colored picture that I liked. I know, I know. I’ve been obsessed with red, but it’s such a really good color!

I suppose that in addition to Boscardin getting a new look (and also turning two years old as of two months ago), I ended up getting a new haircut as well. Okay, it’s a few weeks old, but to me, it’s still new and it’s the shortest I’ve ever had it since I was a kid. It’s a bit hard to see, but it’s an asymmetrical bob. I really like it and think it’s a good cut. It was a bit expensive, but sometimes, when you want a good cut, you have to pay for it, right?

There are a few more things that I want to fix up for the site, but that can take its time. Soon, I will writing small movie reviews and I’m proud of myself for being able to set up that category. For now, I have to make the posts for the old movies that I watched years ago, but I plan on writing reviews for all the new movies that I’ll be watching too.

Anyway, if you have any comments, suggestions, or anything, let me know! Otherwise, feel free to answer this question: Besides domestic animals (cats, dogs, hamsters, etc), what’s your favorite animal? (Yes, this can include fantasy animals)

Maria I like your new layout. The white background is cleaner and makes a lot of things on your site easier to read.

The only suggestion I can make is the font type you are using in your featured post. I prefer arial, tahoma or verdana - but it’s your choice. Otherwise, great job, looking good

Those are good fonts to use (as I have for the other stuff), but I suppose that for now, I’m kind of partial to my serif fonts. Is there a reason why you’d suggest those types? Or is it really just preference?

I love the new look, Maria! What a dramatic header image! WOW! Just awesome! The site loads fast and other than it took me (and that’s more a me error than a theme error) awhile to figure out where to click to leave a comment, it’s really great.

Congrats on the new layout! It’s absolutely beautiful and so professional looking. I also definitely agree with Julie about the reds. I wouldn’t know what I would do if your site didn’t have red on it somewhere… it’s like your trademark.

Also, I love the new haircut. It looks good on you.

I didn’t know it was my trademark? I only started getting into the color ‘red’ about a year ago and then it blew up everywhere in my room, online, on my clothes, etc.

But your mentioning that it’s my trademark makes me think about how I can continue to keep that integrated into my future layouts. Thanks!

Bactrian and dromedary are the two main types of camels. The bactrian (I remember it because it looks a little like ‘train’) are the camels with two humps, while the dromedary are one humped camels.

I have mixed feelings about this new layout, only because the about you sidebar section and the navigation are sans serif and the rest is a lovely serif (which looks so nice with that beautiful header image Kari L took).

The revamp and added functionality is very much appreciated, and looks quite nice.

Short bobs seem to be a trend as of recently. They’re very cute, and yours is quite lovely. Isn’t shorter hair so much easier to take care of?

I like the layout. I think it could use a bit more padding and maybe a sans-serif font for the main text, but that could just be my personal preference.

My favourite animals are the Robovski Dwarf hamster and the Siberian Husky; but favourite animals outside pets… hmm, maybe the Great White? They are scary but also fascinate me.

The layout looks good and the photo is absolutely stunning! I wish I got to see such an amazing sunset in real life.

In the photo your hair looks kinda like mine. But my bob isn’t asymmetric though.

I’m not sure what my favourite animal is if I get to choose from fantasy animals as well. A Pegasus maybe. But just to look at because I’m afraid of horses.

Yes, the hair is easier to take care of! A little less time in the morning, but I do have to blow dry it after every wash or else I’ll get fly aways!

I’ve heard the same stuff about the serif vs. sans serif thing and I’m still trying to decide what I want to do. I like serif and in some places the sans serif looks better. I’ll play around and see what I like I suppose.

As for the spelling of ‘favorite’ I can understand either spelling, but as an American, I prefer it without the ‘u’.

I wish I could see a sunset like that too. Actually, we were getting some red suns over the last weekend. As lovely as it was, it kind of scared me because I knew that if it was that red, that meant there was a bunch of shit in the air. (California is burning right now)
