Chick Flicks

I love watching good movies again. There are just a few that are always good to watch time and time again. I recently watched Pride and Prejudice (2005) and The Notebook again. The Notebook was actually on TV a few weeks earlier, but I had missed the entire beginning of the movie.
I remember Stockton Boy telling me about how much he despised romantic chick flicks. Why? It’s because they create the strong idealistic sense in women that men should be like that, that men should do romantic gestures and whatnot. Those types of movies create high expectations for women which in turn, just screw over the men who have to work twice as hard to win over the woman. Of course, each relationship and each person are different, but in a overall sense, that’s what happens, no? I must admit that sometimes, I expect things too, but only because I feel as if I deserve it.

I’m not a fan of “chick flicks” cause they’re so sappy. They are really unrealistic cause most men, even the best and sweetest, don’t act like that. It basically shows men as women think men should be, which is fine, but really doesn’t help those with low self esteem.
