I hate having to buy textbooks for school. They are always so expensive and the publishers have caught on now that a lot of students have been buying the used editions, so to help combat that, they come out with new editions every other year. It’s a large pain in the ass as a student, but I suppose that some people have to make money somehow, right?

Yeah, that is a pain in the arse. Usually though, the editions don’t differ much and you can get away with buying an earlier edition. Say, instead of Edition 9 you could get away with buying 8 and 7 without too many differences.
Of course you don’t always need the book, there were many times I bought the book, never really opened it, and got an A or B in the class. For most of my Criminal Justice classes I ended up not buying the book and did just fine. Just take good notes, record the lectures if necessary, and if it’s your major the information becomes repetitious after a while anyway.

Sometimes, the editions make a difference and sometimes they don’t. I have gotten away with using older versions, but only with the permission of the professor.
I try to read the book as much as I can, so not reading makes me feel as if I’m not doing my best.
