I’m really starting to hate having to call into customer service now. See, I want to downgrade my current DSL plan since we don’t really need the fastest connection. Since I didn’t get off work today until 9pm, I thought I’d try to do it online. I searched and searched until I finally found the support question, “Can I change or cancel my DSL service online?” The answer… is no. Anybody who wants to modify their current plan needs to call in. They listed two numbers, one for business and one for residential. I call the residential one, of course, only to find myself waiting over an hour on the phone. Then I call the business line and get the message that their offices are closed until tomorrow. Now, I would call tomorrow, but I’ve used quite a bit of minutes this month and well… I need to not use so many anymore.

Don’t even get me started on my rant about Sprint’s customer service either. Or the UPS’ service.

So my sister sent me a link to try and sign up for a tutoring service, to be a tutor that is. As I’m filling out the profile, they ask me which subjects I would feel comfortable tutoring in and below, I’m going to list the first two subjects: English and Math.

English
X English - Elem
X English - Middle
_ English - HS
_ English AP - HS
_ I have a degree in English
_ SAT 1 (Verbal Portion)

Math
X Math - Elem
X Basic Math - Middle
X Pre-Algebra - Middle
X Algebra - Middle
X Algebra II - Middle
X Algebra I - HS
X Algebra II - HS
X Geometry - HS
X Trig - HS
X Pre Calculus - HS
X Calculus - HS
X Statistics - HS
_ I have a degree in Math
X SAT 1 (Math Portion)

I know that I’m an Asian American, but geez, do I have to fit the stereotype that Asians are good at math this much? I can’t help it! I loved math during school and always cheated on my English portions (before high school anyway). Anyway, hopefully I’ll land a nice weekend job or something.

Being Impulsive (1)

02.03.08

So I meant to post earlier, but I got so caught up in things, that I kept putting it off and off. Well, today, I spent my Saturday as leisurely as I could. I still had to attend class, but I survived for that one hour. My next stop was to take care of my shoe problem at the shoe store, but I’ll talk about that later. When that was taken care of (and also resulting in my buying two more pairs of shoes), I treated myself to a nice pedicure. When I got home, I realized that I have no shoe space. I am completely out of shoe space despite my already putting two shoe racks on top of one another. In order to accommodate my new shoes, I started cleaning out my bookcases. As I was cleaning that out, I realized that I have a bunch of textbooks and school papers that I honestly don’t need with me anymore, so I put those in bags. I then realized that it was a rather large pile and that I wouldn’t be able to carry it home, so I got the impulsive idea that I would drive my things back home.

I chose a relatively good weekend since my parents and brother are currently on a cruise and I thought that I could slip into my house, drop off my things, and then leave. I had to do this because I know that they would not approve of me driving such a long distance all by myself, so it’s much easier this way. I rented and loaded the car and was on my way to go. When I got to my parents’ home, I realized that a few things had changed in the last month. First of all, the outhouse now has a bed (for who to sleep in, I don’t know) and that the things we used to store in there have been moved to either the garage or inside the house. Second, my dad became super paranoid and decided to lock two bedrooms, one of which doesn’t contain too many valuable items. Knowing my dad, I knew that he didn’t leave the keys behind, which was a bummer since one of the rooms I needed to get into was my old room. It made sense to me to put my old books in my old room since I still have quite a few of my boxes in there. I could have hidden my things easily, but since he locked it, I had to resort to sticking my things in the shed.

I thought that it was only going to take a total of three hours to get it all done, but instead, I decided to call up my friend C, who I had been talking to earlier in the day. We both admitted that we missed each other and couldn’t wait to spend time together again, so I thought that this would be a perfect time to do it. We caught the last showing of The Other Boleyn Girl and then drove up a hill to take a good overhead view of the city. We had a good time together and it was nice spending the time with him since I hadn’t been able to do so in so long.

The drive back to my apartment was relatively uneventful. I made an hour trip into forty minutes, but it was much easier to do so with a lot less cars on the road. Now I’m tired and I really just want to have a nice lazy Sunday morning. Good night all!

I am really bad at cheering myself up. This time, I’m relating myself to Usher’s song, “Moving Mountains.” Here’s the part that first took me down:

I lost my way, she said she’d stay
And lately I’ve been sleeping with a ghost
My stock is down and out, I used to be worth my weight in gold
That was before a great depression kicked in and rocked us
And that was before a hurricane came in and stopped us
I told you to leave, but you lied to me
When you said that, baby no worries I promise to get us back

I know sorries, just wouldn’t do it,
Her heart is obliterated, I”m trying to travel through
But it’s like moving mountains…
It’s like moving mountains…
But I keep climbing and hoping things would change
And the sky turns grey, and the water from the rain, washes progress away
It’s like moving mountains…

It’s been six months now. The other day, I was talking to a coworker since she was also going through some relationship problems and she said that if the relationship lasted over six months, it takes twice as long as the relationship to completely get over the person. Now, the key word in that is “completely” I believe, but there are some cases in which that’s not true. The last one, DL, lasted about a year and a half and well, it’s not going take me three years to get over him. In fact, it took me the last three months of our relationship for me to get over him.

(Okay, that was a bit harsh, but true, nonetheless)

I know that I keep saying that I’m still waiting, but I just don’t know what to do here. I try to meet new people when I get the change, but, it just doesn’t work out for me somehow. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, or rather, I don’t know how to do anything right now. In class, I wrote a letter that I will never send. Why? Well, partly because the documentaries we were watching were boring as hell and two, just to see what thoughts I could put on paper. Of course, he’ll never see it. I’m shredding it as soon as I tear it out of my notebook. But still, I wrote it anyway.

Damn you Usher. Then again, I could say the same for Leona Lewis and Ashanti…

Who knew that my taking a semester off from college could cause so much more work? Well, since that happened, the university doesn’t consider me to be one of their students, so for my summer courses, I have to pay the visiting undergraduates rate which is $270/unit on top of the $385 enrollment fee. Since I plan to take a total of 8 units over the summer, my entire total comes out to be $2545! That’s absurd!

Well, I may be able to get financial aid if I register for the fall courses, but at this point, I’m only about 75-80% sure that I want to go back. The other part is really making sure that I can change my habits for the better and whatnot. I’m not too sure yet about all of that. All I know for now that I have to may that 2.5 grand up front and if not, then well, I could lose my spot in my classes. I am planning to head to the financial aid office later today to talk to one of the advisers who’s supposed to know much more about this topic.

Hopefully, I’ll either get the university rate or the financial aid. Hopefully.
